Green Hotelier Seeks 2017 Awards Applications

The digital magazine Green Hotelier is seeking applications from the world’s most sustainable and responsible hotels for its 2017 Awards.

Building on the success of previous years, Green Hotelier is again seeking the hotels in Europe, Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas with the innovative environmental and responsible initiatives and practices that make them leaders in sustainability.

Last year’s winners were extremely diverse, ranging from a Heathrow airport hotel trialling new technology for the rest of the brand’s properties, to a classic hotel in Sydney with a 25 year sustainability history. Other properties recognized in the Awards include hotels in Costa Rica with an extraordinarily low environmental footprint thanks to methane capture and black water treatments, and hotels in Bogota, Dubai, Thailand, Jordan, UAE, Malaysia, Dublin and Lisbon: all very different properties but all working hard to reduce their environmental impact while being a force for social good.

Opportunity to Share Best Practices

Green Hotelier Editor and Awards co-judge Siobhan O’Neill said, “Green Hotelier aims to be a free resource showcasing best practice in sustainability from hotels around the world in order that other hoteliers can replicate their initiatives and become more responsible businesses with improved environmental impacts. Not all solutions will work in all regions of the world, but every journey is a lesson we can learn from. This is the chance for the best green hotels around the world to share what they’ve learned with us and their peers to help the hospitality industry as a whole have a collective impact.

“Since we opened the Green Hotelier Awards up to properties beyond the UK, we’ve seen them grow year on year with dozens of varied entries whose eco-initiatives are both fascinating and effective,” O’Neill adds. “I can’t wait to learn more from this year’s applicants and to help share their stories and their sustainability journeys to the wider industry.”

The closing date for applications to the Green Hotelier Awards 2017 is approaching fast—Friday, March 24. Winners will be announced during Responsible Business Week starting April 24, 2016.
